Please find listed questions that potential clients like yourself have asked us over the years to give you some background on our services and the immigration application process. Remember, you can always meet with us for more detailed information or to discuss your particular case.

1. Why does one need an immigration consultant or lawyer?

You do not need an immigration consultant or lawyer to apply for immigration to Canada. However, just like you would go to a qualified accountant to do your tax filing or a financial planner to invest your money, it is advisable to use the service of a Professional Immigration Practitioner when making your application for permanent residence to Canada or Australia. Remember, the first impression is the most important one and will decide the fate of your application.

2. What is C.S.I.C. and are you a member?

Created in fall of 2003, the Society is responsible for regulating the activities of immigration consultants who are members and who provide immigration advice for a fee. The Society grants memberships to only those individuals who have demonstrated their knowledge and ability to advise, consult and represent people who wish to seek Canadian immigration, have passed the Society's Knowledge and Ethics Test and have demonstrated their good character. The Immigration Consultant at Can-Quest, Mr. Alastair C. D’Souza, ccic is a Full Member of the Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants and holds the designation of CCIC (Certified Canadian Immigration Consultant).

3. Why not apply directly to a visa office since there is so much information available on the Internet and from other sources?

The information on the Internet is very basic and since you are not a person with experience in this field, you would not have all the information and knowledge available to you. When you take your fate into your own hands, you are basically gambling on success. Would you like to gamble with something so important to the future of yourself and family?

4. How can CAN-QUEST help me, in handling my application for permanent residence?

We are a full service immigration consultancy firm and handle applications from start to finish. Our goal is to hand over your immigrant visa to you in the shortest time possible and with the least effort on your part. However, we have noticed that there are people who, either for financial reasons, or because they feel they are quite knowledgeable in the immigration process, have decided to make an application directly to the visa office. Most times they just do not want to or cannot pay the professional fees required and can in many cases lead to a loss of time and money, when a refusal letter is received. It is important to let professionals in the field handle your application, so that success is virtually guaranteed.

5. How long does processing my application take?

In most cases anywhere from 12 months to 60 months depending on the visa office processing your application. Usually the process starts with your file being submitted to a visa office. In about 2-4 months you receive a file number and acceptance of application. In about 3-36 months from that point, you are advised if an interview is required or if an officer is able to decide on your case without an interview. If an interview is required it is scheduled in about 6-48 months depending on visa office and then the medical examination is completed and visa issued. More details can be secured by contacting us directly.

6. How can you give us assurance of success when you do not issue the visa?

Yes, we cannot guarantee success, but then no one can. No lawyer or consultant can guarantee the success of your application as the decision power to admit you into Canada or Australia rests solely with the visa officer handling your case. What we do is make you chances of success better than if you were handling the matter yourself with limited information and in most cases taking a big gamble. Remember we are professionals in this field and submit many applications each day.

7. Will you help me when the time comes for a personal interview with a visa officer?

Yes, part of our comprehensive service package includes a thorough interview preparation. In this area we stand out among other consultants and lawyers, who normally spend very little time with a client on interview preparation. Our preparation involves many visits with our consultants and complete documents and information review, questions and answers as well as final preparation by our senior consultants prior to the interview.

8. What criteria do visa officers use to assess an application?

A variety of factors are used in determining an applicant’s suitability for immigration. Age, language ability, education, work experience, occupation, spouse’s education, relatives in Canada, settlement funds and employment prospects. Most important is the adaptability factor, which can mean failing or passing the process of applying for immigration. One should remember that meeting a points test does not guarantee a visa. For this very reason, using a professional immigration firm, will guarantee that your application is presented in the best way possible and that you, the applicant, are well prepared to present yourself at the interview, thus making success close to 100%

9. Do you accept my application even if I don’t make the required points test?

Our business has been based on an honest assessment of your chances of success with the immigration process. If we don’t feel that we can succeed with your application, it is our policy to make that known at our first meeting. We do not believe in taking your money and wasting your time, if there is no hope of success. Besides we offer a money refund guarantee, so it would be pointless to take your case only to refund the money after putting in a lot of hard work and time.

10. Do I have to have my skills assessed and English language ability tested?

In the case of Canada, under the new immigration act (IRPA) occupations do not require skill testing to be done, for the purposes of applying for immigration. English tests are not mandatory at this time. However, it is advisable for every applicant to complete the IELTS test as it can be required by the visa office and also increases your chances of getting a waiver of interview.

11. Why are your fees payable in advance of receiving an immigrant visa and what guarantee do we have of receiving the visa?

We are a registered Canadian corporation in business for many years and with hundreds of successful applicants behind us. We are also licensed in the U.A.E. and have a special permit to provide Canada Immigration Consulting Services. Our main business focus is providing personal consultancy to clients from around the world where we charge very competitive fees to handle their immigration application. In order to provide our professional services, we must ask that you pay our fees as per our fee schedule. All fees paid are backed by a money refund guarantee that is part of our retainer agreement. We do not think it just to keep your money unless we have provided our services and you have succeeded in securing an immigrant visa.

12. What is your rate of success with clients applying for immigration?

Our rate of success is close to 100%. This mainly due to the care we take in accepting and handling each and every application for permanent residence. We have hundreds of testimonials to prove our rate of success and they are available for view at our office by any potential client.

13. Are your fees to handle the complete application reasonable and inline with other consultants?

Yes, our fees are based on the amount of work required and are always competitive. While there may be people out there who may charge less or more than us, we have always given our clients the best service possible and our fees have never been an issue. Remember, you always get what you pay for! For more information on our fees and the government fees applicable, please contact our office.

14. Will I have the same level of service one I have paid up all the fees?

At Can-Quest, we do not leave you stranded once all your fees are paid up. Our aim is to present you with your immigrant visa and we understand that one satisfied client means 10 new referrals. So, we do not work with just one idea in our minds, to collect fees and not provide a complete service. We will make sure that you are satisfied. Finally, as members of C.S.I.C. we are bound by our code of ethics and conduct to treat each client fairly and avoid any mismanagement of their funds.

15. What are the qualifications of the consultants of Can-Quest?

Our consultants are professional immigration consultants with many years of experience in the field of Canadian immigration practice. Some are members of C.S.I.C.(Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants-required to practice immigration consultancy for a fee) C.A.P.I.C.(Canadian Association of Professional Immigration Consultants) & the Canadian Bar Association (Professional bodies governing the practice of immigration lawyers and consultants in Canada). Mr. Alastair C. D’Souza,CCIC is also a graduate of the Seneca College of Applied Arts & Technology, Ontario, Canada’s Immigration Practitioner Program.
